ROAD TRAIN

The story here is that four teenagers are on a camping road trip on the Australian outback. They are soon followed by a road train, a massive two-trailer truck which they admire. FICKSBURG POLICE BRUTALITY ON ANDRIES TATANE: SILENCE OF THE POLITICIANS

By now the entire country is in discussion over the brutal death of one Andries Tatane who was killed on Wednesday during a protest in Ficksburg, Free State. Tatane was one of dozens who were protesting against lack of service delivery in their area. His death is partly recorded on video and was flighted on SABC news last night. It shows a group of about 8 policemen surrounding Tatane, some of them beating him with batons and others kicking him. Later he died and was found to have been shot twice. Witnesses say they heard gunshots and they are pretty sure it was police who shot the man they’d been kicking earlier.

SAMAS BROKE, CAN'T PAY PRESENTER

I had a great chuckle last weekend listening to Sizwe Dhlomo and Siyabonga Ngwekazi on Yfm. The two present a hip-hop dominated show between 09:00 and 12:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. During the show Siyabonga told a story of how the South African Music Awards organisers approached him to MCee at the launch of this year’s awards this week. Of course seeing this as a potentially door-opening opportunity, young Scoop was considering it. Until money came into the picture.

And there it is, India has won the first ICC World Cup of the century’s second decade! More interesting is that their outgoing coach Gary Kirsten has become the first South African to win a cricket world cup trophy! India captain MS Dhoni hit the winning runs against a determine Sri Lanka, an awesome 6 off the park with 10 balls to spare. It’s the second time India has won the cup since their 1983 triumph over the West Indies at Lord’s in London.
